Logistics and Preparation
Booking a Trip
The best method of contact is via e-mail since cellular service is less reliable. My calendar is rapidly filling and I like to have as more time in advance to prepare so that your experience goes as smoothly as possible. Many commuter and charter flight services fill up far in advance and find themselves unable to fulfill any last minute requests, which can negatively affect any remote Alaskan adventure. Weather delays are common and often cause everyone fits. But that’s Alaska.
The Territory
We guide in Game Management Units (GMU) 19 & 21. View the State of Alaska fact sheet here (19) and here (21).
GMU 21 is as remote and isolated as it is wild and beautiful. The re-introduction to Alaska from Canada of the endangered species of Wood Bison marks a tremendous success for the State. This species you cannot hunt. This rare species historically inhabited much of Alaska, but was driven to the brink of extinction. The State of Alaska, in cooperation with the many wildlife conservation groups, have made it possible to see these magnificent Ice Age animals roaming free once again in their natural habitat.
In GMU 19, the more common species of Plains Bison is long-established and is open to harvest by Drawing Permit Lottery only.
Gear
Go through the recommended basic gear lists and weight restrictions for the hunt you are interested in booking.
Our Guarantee
Nobody can guarantee you will be successful in finding that what you seek. However, you will be placed in as beautiful an area as possible, with a licensed guide whose job is to make sound decisions in unforgiving territory. Many factors such as weather, conditioning, patience and skill play a huge role in the outcome of a quest. Attitude is everything.
Details
For a guided hunt or adventure, it begins with a few key details – how many are in your party, what hunt or experience are you interested in, and when do you want to visit? We arrange transportation, lodging, and outfitting. We will do everything we can to prevent any surprises so everything goes as smoothly from start to finish.
Provisions & Accomodations
Your hunt begins before you step foot on the plane. Below is a summary of what Guide Fees cover and what they do not. *See all details in the Client-Guide Contract.

All meals and services including:

Transportation in the field
Field preservation of meat and hide
Fees Do Not include
Hunting license
Big Game tags
Transportation to and from the field where hunt begins (commuter or charter flights)
Hotel accommodations before or after the hunt

Alaskan wild game meat freight and processing costs.
Trophies, I have discovered are best kept with you whenever possible. However there are ways to ship them to the Taxidermist of your choice. Once the game bags are filled and the trophy is cared for, the meat transport and shipping expenses vary depending on many factors. There are a great variety of commercial meat processing facilities in Alaska I would be pleased to recommend should you wish to make use of their services.
Purchasing Licenses & Tags
Your licenses and big game tags can be purchased in advance at: www.admin.adfg.state.ak.us/license/. The exception is the Federal duck stamp. You may purchase a Federal Stamp at www.usfws.gov.
We recommend that you purchase your tags two month in advance, online to allow processing time since the State of Alaska has to mail them to you. It is your responsibility to show up with your hunting licenses, harvest tickets and locking tags.
Deposits & Cancellations
A deposit of 50% will confirm and secure your hunt. The balance is payable 60 days prior to arrival. If agreement has been made to receive final payment upon arrival, the balance must be paid by, wire transfer, cash, traveler's check, or certified check. In the event of cancellation by the client less than 60 days prior to the start of our season, deposits shall be forfeited unless a proxy hunter, a fill-in hunter can be found, or other arrangements can be mutually agreed upon. All reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate my customers and keep you returning safely and successfully.
