About Our Guide
Glenn C. Elliott is an Alaskan of Yup’ik heritage, born and raised in Bethel, on the banks of the Kuskokwim River in western Alaska. Amauq means “to carry” as in pack. It also has a deeper meaning, referring to those who carried us, our “Great-grandparents”. Having grown up hunting and fishing, he has insights and knowledge few but well-seasoned Alaskan professional guides can deliver. Glenn has guided professionally since 2003, and has since used it as a way to roam through many of the most-remote parts of Alaska.
In the course of Glenn’s education and development, he has earned a B.A. in Justice with a Minor in Alaska Native Studies from UAA-Anchorage. The real education started when he signed on as a Packer for a Master Guide. In the off-season, he’s worked as a Bear Guard, K-12 Substitute Teacher, HomeInstead Senior Caregiver, T and Sport-fishing guide across Alaska.
In the course of his professional guiding career, he had the honor and privilege of working for Master guides Garlan “Rocky” Keen of Last Frontier Guiding and Outfitting (RIP), Brent Jones of AAA Alaska Guides and Outfitters LLC, Gary Larose of Larose Guiding and Outfitting Service, Dave Leonard of Mountain Monarchs LLC and Mike “Buck” Bowden of Hidden Alaska, each of whom is owed a great debt of gratitude for the lessons they taught.
